Sorry, that was earlier. I forgot I wasn't in a forum full of elitists  Personally though I can't stand that album.

SledgehammerMessiah- 08-13-2008

I actually still have yet to listen to it properly. I can get it for $8 at work, if I want, so I'll have to give it a spin. Plus, it'll probably come with a Century Media "proof of purchase" insert, so I can add that to my stack (save 10, get a free cd). I'll be adding a slick graphic here soon like Grim & the others. Glad to see Raunchy so high up there on your list, Grim. :D Makes me feel like I'm validated in listening to poppy MDM. :D

I forgot I wasn't in a forum full of elitists  Damn right! It's cool, man, I just wanted to make clear my policy on hostility towards others and their opinions, especially with something as subjective as a favorite albums list. Very Happy Makes me feel like I'm validated in listening to poppy MDM. Very Happy Y'know, coming from a huge fan of Cryptopsy's past work, the new one actually grew on me for the most part. I accepted it for what it was and nothing more and found a lot of it rather enjoyable. :) I can't wait to see what you come up with, Sledge. ;) I'm not gonna lie, Raunchy has owned my soul for the last few month, I'm not ashamed to admit it!

I'm not gonna lie, Raunchy has owned my soul for the last few month, I'm not ashamed to admit it! I wouldn't put it in my top albums for the year, but it has some infectious hooks and has been listened to a good few times, you just can't help but bob along to it!!! :) As for pop/metal combo, after TDEP's output over the last few years..Miss Machine in particular I wouldn't bee surprised if their where a few more bands have a bash....maybe Cryptopsy lol Just kidding ;) Btw great lists guys, its always good to see the what other peoples tastes are like, are makes you ponder and listen to the albums that you may otherwise forget about. Keep 'em coming.

SledgehammerMessiah- 08-13-2008

Oh, and it should be noted that DJNeo was also in the studio with Cryptopsy and previewed a couple songs before they were available to the public. That kinda in-studio magic of being there while it's happening would also make me a lot more interested in an album. Not to say he doesn't like the album standalone, just saying... he had an "intimate" experience with the band during the recording process. And no, by "intimate" experience, I don't mean he hooked up with that female keyboardist. Or did he?...

Aside from Ob(Servant), nothing has really made me go, "Wow, this is 2008!" Sure there have been some good releases, but I'm still waiting. Maybe since I've been spoiled the past few years with godly releases (Psalms of the Moribund, Noctambulant, Art Of Partying, Colors, Hazardous Mutation, Prelude to the Tragedy, Scepter of the Ancients, Reduced to Ashes, God Was Created... etc.), I'm looking/listening too hard.

Rudrasura- 09-16-2008

Definately without a doubt according to me the best album is Amon Amarth's Twilight of the Thunder God.
