AS I LAY DYING: 'An Ocean Between Us' Artwork, Track Listing Revealed San Diego metal outfit AS I LAY DYING has finalized the track listing for its new album, "An Ocean Between Us", due on August 21 through Metal Blade Records. Produced by KILLSWITCH ENGAGE guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz (EVERY TIME I DIE, ALL THAT REMAINS), the CD will contain a dozen tracks, including "Separation", "Within Destruction" and the likely first single, "Nothing Left". In a recent interview with HardcoreSounds.net, AS I LAY DYING frontman Tim Lambesis stated about the new material, "Compared to 'Shadows Are Security' it's more diverse. Some of the songs are darker and technical but there's also some melodic guitars like there were in 'Shadows Are Security'. Musically 'An Ocean Between Us' is more faster and heavier but lyrically the album is really memorable. If you put the two together it has a cool energy because everything is more balanced. I also had more time to focus on lyrics this time." "An Ocean Between Us" (view artwork at this location) track listing: 01. Separation 02. Nothing Left 03. An Ocean Between Us 04. Within Destruction 05. Forsaken 06. Comfort Betrays 07. I Never Wanted 08. Bury Us All 09. The Sound of Truth 10. Departed 11. Wrath Upon Ourselves 12. This is Who We Are A 10-minute video interview with AS I LAY DYING drummer Jordan Mancino, conducted by Finland's Get In The Pit magazine at this year's Provinssirock festival (June 15-17) in Seinäjoki, Finland, has been posted at this location.

EVERY TIME I DIE: 'The Big Dirty' Track Listing Revealed EVERY TIME I DIE has finalized the track listing for its new album, "The Big Dirty", due on September 4 via Ferret Music. Produced by Steve Evetts, "The Big Dirty" is "the CD you would compile if asked to make a mix of the best EVERY TIME I DIE songs you haven't heard yet," the band writes in the press release. "Ten-plus tracks that tore from our filthy hands like the creature that jumped out of that dudes stomach in 'Alien'. If this ain't your favorite heavy release of the year, I'll eat my damn hat." "The Big Dirty" track listing: 01. No Son of Mine 02. Pigs Is Pigs 03. Leatherneck 04. Werewolf 05. Rebel Without Applause 06. Cities and Years 07. Rendez-Voodoo 08. A Gentlemans Sport 09. Inrihab 10. Depressionista 11. Buffalo Gals 12. Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Battery The track "Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Battery" has been posted online at the band's MySpace page. Though slotted as the final song on EVERY TIME I DIE's new CD, there is no track as indicative of the entire record as "Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Battery", according to a press release. Lyrically based on Federico Fellini's "8 1/2", this song "has everything that the band has become notorious for wrapped into one two-minute-and-thirty-second keg stand of ass-kicking fuck-all. From the scathing self-indictment of the lyrics, through the involuntary tweak-out inducing riffs, all the way to the no permanent bass playerness of the band itself, 'Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Battery' is what EVERY TIME I DIE does best — not give a shit about what you expect from them. If there was a middle finger that had a sharp point at the end and was about six feet in height, this song would take that finger like a flagpole, tie a flag to the end of it that had another middle finger on it (but smaller, obviously and not necessarily the same middle finger) and stick it in the uncharted terrain of brazen self-awareness — a paradise which countless other bands have tried to recreate on stage, but failed at miserably." EVERY TIME I DIE is taking part in the third edition of the Sounds of the Underground tour, which also features performances by GWAR, CHIMAIRA, NECRO and JOB FOR A COWBOY, among others. The 25-city North American trek starts today (Friday, July 6) at the Palladium Ballroom in Dallas and wraps Aug. 8 at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver. Other acts include DARKEST HOUR, AMON AMARTH, THE ACACIA STRAIN, HEAVY HEAVY LOW LOW, THE NUMBER TWELVE LOOKS LIKE YOU, DEVIL WEARS PRADA and GOATWHORE.

ULVER: New Album Release Date Announced Norwegian experimental act ULVER has issued the following update: "Many of you have been waiting for sound, and we are sorry for the silence. We needed to be alone, without the hustle and bustle of the living. We are uncomfortable with the world, the industry and our place. We have been working, sluggishly, well aware we could end up with nothing. Nonetheless we believe we have succeeded in giving our fears some kind of form. 'Shadows of the Sun', our seventh full-length album, is finished and will be released October 1st. We feel it is our most personal record to date. Low-key, dark, and tragic. As we are." ULVER's last album, "Blood Inside", was released in the U.S. in July 2005 via The End Records (June 2005 in Europe).

HATE ETERNAL ADDS PERMANENT SECOND GUITARIST!! HATE ETERNAL is proud to announce the newest member to its family, Shaune Kelley, joining the band as the second guitarist. Leader Erik Rutan comments: "Shaune and I played together in for Ripping Corpse for over 5 years before my involvement in Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal, and have been friends for over 20 years. I am totally ecstatic to have Shaune in the band and recreate a guitar team that always connected on all fronts. Shaune's contribution to the new record will be tremendous as well as touring that will follow. It will be the first time HATE ETERNAL will actually be a four piece live band, due to other situations never working out. Rehearsals have been amazing jamming with Alex, Jade, and Shaune for the last couple of months at Mana Studios. The new songs are finished and sounding awesome! We have spent much more time on the preparation of this new album on all fronts compared to our past releases and the results have provided a much more focused and deeper layered results (more solos, yes!). We start recording the drums on August 21st and then following through, finishing by mid October for an early 2008 Metal Blade release." Erik Rutan HATE ETERNAL

In the summer of 2006, the band embarked on a six-week European headline tour with no opening band, no product, and strictly by word of mouth, proceeded to sell out all 21 shows. Inspired by the response, the band reconnected in New Orleans to begin work on its most ambitious record to date. Having already tapped Warren Riker, who produced DOWN's second release, "II - A Bustle in Your Hedgerow", the band demoed some 18 songs in Nodferatu's Lair, Philip Anselmo's studio in the swamps of Folsom, LA, with engineer David "Puma" Troia. In February of 2007, the band commenced recording on their third and most committed record to date. Recorded in Los Angeles between February and July, with a Canadian tour with HEAVEN AND HELL thrown in just for good measure, 15 songs were ultimately cut for "Over the Under". The result is over 60 minutes of genre-defying music further solidifying their place at the forefront of heavy rock as only DOWN can do. To chronicle the past five years leading up to the release of "III - Over the Under", Philip Anselmo will be placing periodic installments to be released over the course of the next month on the band's web sites leading up to the release of the record. This is Philip's personal communication to the band's loyal fan base and gives a first-hand account the tragedy, isolation, rebirth and ultimate triumph of one of the most important band's of our time. The first installment will appear on August 17 on www.down-nola.com and www.myspace.com/downnola. "III - Over the Under" track listing: 01. 3 Suns And 1 Star 02. The Path 03. N.O.D 04. I Scream 05. On March The Saints 06. Never Try 07. Mourn 08. Beneath The Tides 09. His Majesty The Desert 10. Pillamyd 11. In The Thrall Of It All 12. Nothing In Return (Walk Away)

Bedlam 123 EXODUS played two brand new songs — "Bedlam 123" and "Funeral Hymn" — during their appearance Wednesday night ( August 8 ) at the Showcase Theater in Corona, California. Watch video footage of both tracks on YouTube: "Bedlam 123": Video "Funeral Hymn": Video With regards to the album's title, EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt said, "Why 'Exhibit A', you might ask? Because we already have four songs recorded and finished for the next album, which we will resume recording some time around the end of the year, and this is a two-part record. Part two being exhibit B. So yes, there will be another EXODUS album finished hopefully soon after the release of this one. And when all is said and done, there will never have been anything as brutal and genre-defining done before in thrash metal. An epic monster this one is, and the next is going to take it even further." EXODUS will embark on a North American headlining tour in January/February. Support on the trek will come from GOATWHORE, ARSIS and WARBRINGER. Tickets are available exclusively through EnterTheVault.com until September 4 at which point they will be available through all normal ticketing outlets. Holt recently released his first-ever instructional DVD, "A Lesson in Guitar Violence", through Zaentz. The disc, which contains never-before-seen live footage from 1985 at the Dynamo Club in Holland, can be ordered at The Exodus Store.

WooOoot !!!!!!!!! ARSIS: New Album Title Revealed - Aug. 27, 2007 Guitarist/vocalist James Malone of Virginia's ARSIS has issued the following update: "Despite the numerous headaches caused by our van's breakdown this summer, we spent time working on perfecting pre-production for our debut release for Nuclear Blast Records, tentatively titled 'We Are The Nightmare'. We will begin recording the album on September 3, 2007 at Planet Z Studios in Massachusetts with Zeuss (who has worked with SHADOWS FALL and HATEBREED) handling the production. I feel that this will be the most exciting ARSIS album to date. We are now a full band and every member has contributed to the writing process for this album. While it is more varied than anything we have ever written, I feel the result is a much more focused product." ARSIS drummer Darren Cesca added: "This is an album any fan of ARSIS or heavy music in general should get excited about. We've really captured the band's sound and improved it in all aspects. It's dark, melodic, and very technical at times, but we wrote songs you can pump your fists to. I've definitely pushed my drumming very far for this record and I know the rest of the band will be pushing themselves as well. One thing's for sure: this is going to be one fun album to listen to. As soon as we finish recording, we plan on shooting a video for 'We Are the Nightmare' in October, then we’ll be hitting the road with ENSLAVED in November and EXODUS in January. The album should be stores sometime in early 2008 and I am sure more touring will ensue after that. 2008 should be a busy year for us and we're looking forward to it!" All of the ARSIS recordings (which include two demos, one EP, and two full-length albums) have won the band many rabid fans among the metal underground, the metal press, and metal musicians themselves. Their 2004 debut, "A Celebration of Guilt", was praised to hell and back by Revolver magazine as "the best in the genre since AT THE GATES' legendary swan song <'Slaughter of the Soul'>." ARSIS' la-*test*-('") CD, "United in Regret", was released in October 2005 via Willowtip Records.

DEICIDE Begins Recording 'Till Death Do Us Part' Legendary death metal outfit DEICIDE has begun work on its ninth studio album at Florida's Morrisound Studios. Entitled "Till Death Do Us Part", the follow-up to 2006's "The Stench of Redemption" promises to be DEICIDE's "most savage and aggressive to date," according to a press release. Drummer Steve Asheim has begun the process by laying down drum tracks on a set of songs that retain all the high-speed intensity of the last album, but throw in a few surprises along the way. Commented Asheim: "The songs will have a very evil and chaotic nature to them and will include the extensive arrangements and riffage that made 'Stench...' so great. "There's no mistaking... it's DEICIDE. It feels like a cross between 'Stench...' and 'Legion', and is definitely the next logical step for DEICIDE." Once the music is down, the final stage will be for Glen Benton to contribute his unique vocal approach, with recordings scheduled for completion as early as November. "Till Death Us Do Part" is expected to be released early 2008. "We keep pushing what we do," concluded Asheim. "The guitars are even more sinister...the drums even more brutal. DEICIDE fans may be shocked at how fast this came around, but they're going to eat it up." MIKE AMOTT: CARCASS Has Rehearsed And May Reunite For Tour Former CARCASS guitarist Mike Amott (currently in ARCH ENEMY) has revealed that the legendary U.K. death metal band may reunite for a tour. In an exclusive interview with Sweden's Close-Up magazine (web site), Amott said that he and guitarist/vocalist Bill Steer secretly met in Halmstad, Sweden last year to rehearse old CARCASS material. A couple of months later, they were joined by vocalist/bassist Jeff Walker for another practice session. ARCH ENEMY's Daniel Erlandsson was handling the drum duties at these rehearsals. "It sounded really good and it was a lot of fun," said Amott. "We rehearsed pretty much the entire 'Heartwork' album <1993>." The original plan was for CARCASS to play several festival shows this summer, but that fell through. "I hope we can do some reunion shows at a later date," explained Amott. "It would be a lot of fun and I'd love to play the songs live again. Unfortunately, it can't happen until 18 months from now, at the earliest, because ARCH ENEMY has a totally full schedule. It's different for the other guys who don't work as actively on their music careers." Have you discussed writing new songs? "To write something new seems unnecessary. People still only want to hear the old stuff," said Amott. After the "Heartwork" tour, Mike Amott left CARCASS. The band then released the appropriately titled album "Swansong" (1996). What did you think of "Swansong" when it came out? "I wasn't a fan of it," Mike replied. "But we actually rehearsed a couple of songs from it last year and they sounded pretty good. I think the production partly ruined it. It sounded sparse and basically all the extreme stuff that characterized CARCASS was gone. It felt boring." Have the other members of CARCASS heard ARCH ENEMY? "Jeff has flat-out said that he thinks we suck," Amott stated. "Bill is not into that kind of music. I think the guys left the metal world as it was in the middle of the '90s and haven't thought about it since. It seems they think it's a little bizarre that I'm still doing the metal thing full-on." Original CARCASS drummer Ken Owen suffered a brain hemorrhage in 1999 and was hospitalized for ten months, slowly emerging from a coma. "Ken is doing fine today, but he's not a metal drummer," Amott explained. "He's not capable of playing entire concerts with an extreme band like CARCASS. I still hope that he, if we do a tour, will travel with us and play a couple of songs each night." Earache Records will re-release the CARCASS back catalogue with bonus material, including extra DVDs with brand new interviews and other footage. "Jeff has negotiated with Earache and been able to make the label pay us a lot of old royalties," Amott revealed. "Of course money means something, but it would be great fun to go around and play songs that truly are classics in a genre. I've never played stuff like that to people before. I mean, songs that somehow have been soundtracks to people's lives. It would be fun to dig up the old corpse again."
