Metallica's New Album Cover Art Is A "Pussy" ?
This is the cover art for Metallica's new album "Death Magnetic" Final Tracklist: 01. That Was Just Your Life 02. The End Of The Line 03. Broken, Beat & Scarred 04. The Day That Never Comes 05. All Nightmare Long 06. Cyanide 07. The Unforgiven III 08. The Judas Kiss 09. Suicide & Redemption 10. My Apocalypse .... and at first glance looks like a Pussy!! From a cover art perspective, this is worse than the new In Flames' album cover. This one is everything but Metal!! Too much white!! Yuck!! Is it just me or do you also feel the same. Post your comments, folks!! Should be an interesting conversation. ;)

Maybe they are trying to send a message with that cover, you know, something like, "now we are real pussies". I don't really like Metallica at all (except "Master of Puppets", "...and Justice for All" and the "Black Album") but St. Anger was just so...dissapointing... well, I hope almost this one is better than the new one from Slipknot.

I'm a hardcore fan of their first four albums. Period. Its the best that Metallica offered to Thrash and I'm happy that they came out with such beatuiful albums. Post the Justice album, they lost me. I'm hoping (against hopes) that this one has something to do with old school Thrash since there has been so much publicity on the band going back to their roots.

Grimlord- 07-17-2008

! Vagtallica! Terrible cover, terrible band for the last 18 years, and sure to be a terrible album. There is zero chance this album will redeem them, it will most likely come off as half-assed thrash mockery... a parody of their former selves.

Tomgoroth- 07-17-2008

@Peter: Dude! The ...And Justice For All cover is mostly white too :S! But I'm curious about the new album. Can't say nothing more about it since I only heard the two "new songs" they played live. And I wonder how much of those songs can actually be heard on the new album. And a couple of excerpts which they have put out so far. Nothing far from enough to form a decent opinion about. I think it's weird that everyone already has his/her opinion on the new album, good or bad, but there isn't much put out to form a decent opinion on yet... Or have I missed out on something? I just hope I'll like it :P! And hey, at least they dusted of their good old logo again ;)! :D! We'll see! Or should I say: We'll hear?!

DirtyRotten- 07-17-2008

I get what they are going for but..eh. It looks more like a hairy butthole.

SledgehammerMessiah- 07-17-2008

I don't see a vagina as much as I see a design that looks like it was made with a fucking Wooly Willy. Seriously though, I don't mind the white, and I've seen worse album covers (Raunchy's "Wasteland Discotheque" for starters), but really... they could've done better. Although it's probably better than the shit I would've given them, hahahaha: Side note: I actually have a really sick idea using the title, "Death Magnetic". Damn shame I couldn't have gotten on with them & make some stupid Met-money. :D

chass- 07-17-2008

When I first saw that, I thought it was a joke. lmao. Anyway I don't care about that band as Grim said, they've been a terrible band for the last 18 years, and in my opinion were just decent in their early days ;P And @ Sledge lmao man your cover is better than the original!!

Peter- 07-17-2008

@ Tom: The justice album had a better theme for the picture (though from cover art perspective its not that great). This one is plain white, which is why it sucks big time. Its like the artist was too lazy to use colours for his art. Anyways, I'm only judging the cover art and not the album. As I said earlier, I'm hoping the album has some good thrash. I believe Rubin has that knack of bringing out the best in bands. But, I also wont be suprised if its half baked shit because this one has a history for such shit. We'll know better when the album leaks. ;) @Grim: I totally agree mate... there is no way in hell this one will be a redeeming album. I think at this stage metalheads dont even care and so wouldn't care even if the album is a rework of their early albums (though there will be some who would love to atleast hear something like the old albums... I'm in this group) @DirtyRotten:  ... Well put words to call the band a fag @Sledge: Your version atleast tries to address the title of the album. Its a better first draft. Implement your idea and send it to the management and who knows the band might reconsider their choice of the cover art ;)

i prefer myself a landing-strip. for shame, metallica. i thought you knew me better. :(

I can't say I'm surprised in the least.

Metallica got me into the scene many many years ago, in the mid 80s. I was 16, on the bus to my new job, listening to some German Punk (die ärzte) on my personal stereo, and a mate of mine was also there, listening to his. So, we swapped. I heard my first thrash song "The Four Horsemen" I couldn't believe my ears. I fell in love with it, and became an instant Metallica fan, soon to have Slayer and Anthrax added to my list of favourite music. Kill'em all was a very important, and brilliant album at the time. Ride the Lightning with its better production was also a stunner. Master of Puppets was in a different league, a lot more technical, and a brilliant album. Then Justice came out. My mate, the blind Metallica fan, bought the Vinyl and cassette. I listened to it, and thought "what the hell is that" I did listen to it a bit, but it never really did anything for me. Not terrible, just not nearly as good as previous efforts. The Black album... well, I bought it. On the one hand, it did seem to make metal more acceptable. I started going to non-metal clubs, and you could hear songs from the Black album blasting out, so that was no bad thing.. I remember getting the DJ to play Holier than Thou, and my mates and I had a bit of a mosh on the dancefloor ;) But that was it. I can't even remember which one came out after that. Load? My mate still went on to buy all their CDs, in the hope that they'd do something good, but I seriously cannot stand it at all, or them! Cocky twats, more interested in money than music/fans. I did watch some kind of monster... again, my mate insisted ;) Jesus, what a bunch of crybaby twats. Once Cliff Burton died, they totally lost their way. I dunno if he wrote all their music, or whether his manic bass skills pulled the band together, but they totally lost it now. Myself and a few mates still have a good laugh when we discuss the St. Anger album. "Pots and Pans" and whatever. A truly crap album. (All in my opinion of course) I'd love for a new CD of theirs to go back to the roots, I remember my metal mates and I discussing the possibility before St. Anger came out, and when we first heard it, we did just burst out laughing. My response may seem a bit extreme, I think the problem is, I was so disappointed. They went from being the group that introduced me to thrash metal, and I still enjoy listening to their first 3 CDs now and then, but it does just feel like they're out to extract maximum money now, and that's it. The whole Napster thing didn't help either. Also, that a group such as Slayer, who've also basically been there since the beginning, and let's face it, are getting on a bit now, can still wack out albums like they do, shows there's no excuse. Maximum respect to Slayer, and minimum to Metallica. I'll always remember that twinge I felt when I heard the Four Horsemen riff for the first time, and the excitement of blasting Master of Puppets for the first time, but I do believe they've lost their way entirely. Still, let's hope they can prove me wrong! One strange thing that got me, is that I saw them live in 1992. We had a Cannibal Corpse gig one night, and Metallica were on the next night, so we went to see them too. They played a bunch of Unforgiven, and other popular Black tracks... and then James Hetfield shouted "ok, that's it for you new guys, this is for our real fans" and then proceeded to play just old tracks, with maximum energy, and as heavy as I've ever heard them. Almost as if James didn't even like the new stuff himself, and was loving blasting out Seek and Destroy for the millionth time. So who knows, fingers crossed! Sorry for my rant, guess it goes to show how passionate I am about my music, and how disappointed I was, and have been, in the last 18 years of their stuff. I wouldn't even call it metal any more ;) Cheers, don't hate me! ;) Vin. EDIT: and if that really is their new album cover, maybe the new title will be "Metallica - Cunt" ;)

Peter- 07-20-2008

Vin, There would be a million other metalheads who are feeling the same as you and I can understand your disappointment. Ever since I came across the first four albums, I have been hooked to Thrash. I have also been eagerly waiting for a "back to roots" albums and St.Anger was not even close to it. I was hoping (though not very much) that they would finally come out with some good Thrash music (I dont expect a masterpiece album, just plain good old thrash), but this cover art was a big turn off. Will have to wait for the leak to know how true their "gone back roots" claim is.

Euronymous- 07-21-2008

Ok listen up pussies, Kill Em All was the best album they ever wrote and only one worth recognition. The rest was just a pile a crap, you guys are faggots for listening to them.. JK, in all seriousness that did look like a vagina, but its actually supposed to be a casket in ground. Ofcourse you guys knew that, but yeah. It sucks, the album def will suck, they are pussies. The last time they ever got any was from eachother usinga fake plastic vagina that they shared together also noting the fact that ED is taking effect on them. Why don't they just stop? Or just write shit like kill em all again? wtf? is it so hard to just ask for one last half decent album???

ruker- 07-21-2008

Bleh. These guys will never come close to being in the shadows of their former selves. Album art and titles never really turn me away from an album, but I still hold no hope for another KEA or MoP.
