Got news from a couple friends who have been at WOA, lots of good comments...
Tom, the 21st of dec might be the last date of the tour I think. Good luck for your upcoming progeniture.
Hehe, I would have been surprised if the comments weren't good!
Alrighty then!
I hope the guys will have enough energy left to give theirselves fully at the last gig of the tour.
But I guess it will be an awesome gig!
And perhaps I'll see you there!
My girlfriend and I will do our best to be there.
Thank you man!
For so far everything is going great!
Take care!

Bit late here but I went to Wacken with two friends and the girlfriend. Was a great fest. Too many people there but I had a great time. Highlights of the fest were Watain, Nifelheim, and Sabaton. Other than the metalcore / hardcore bands, Corvus Corax, and Gilgamesh all the bands I watched were at least decent. I met a bunch of friendly people from Europe and talked about metal with them. Still adjusting to the 9 hour time difference here!

Last year, I was saying that I will go one last time to Wacken and supposely it was this year but I didn't make it. Like DAWN, I think there is too much people and you can see there is people who's there for the camping only, they even don't go to the show. So imagine if there is 75 000 peoples at the festival, imagine how many people are there just for camping?
Don't get me wrong, I love metalheads but I think there is more and more weirdos who just want to show off and less true metalheads. Also it cost alot to buy stuff up there, the beer is 3euros, 4 euros if you don't have your cup. Eating cost a lot unless you bring your own food but it's complicated to keep the food, cans are ok but most of us like to eat fresh stuffr like meat, fruits and veggies. In one night, it can cost me around 200 to 300 euros to party, so imagine that I have spend 600Euros, it's almost 1000$ Canadian. It's alot of money and thsi fest is getting bigger, thing will cost more...

After visiting Wacken for three years in a row.
I'm also thinking about visiting another festival next year, like Party San and/or Metal Camp.
But more because I want to try something different again, then because of the things DjNeo stated.
But then again next year will be the 20th anniversary of Wacken.
And if the line-up is good, I might even considering Wacken for one final time (for the next few years that is).

DjNeo - We noticed a couple groups of people that were just at their tents the whole time drinking and goofing off. It just seems like a poor way to spend money 100 Euros (not including food or booze) to camp for 4 days? Not smart!
We ended up hauling bread, fruit, and energy / meal replacement bars to the festival to keep at our tent for food as it wasn't high on our list to spend 6 Euros for a meal (I'd rather spend it on shirts!)
Many, many people we spoke with had been going to Wacken for years and they were pretty much saying that the 20th anniversary would be their last Wacken and some guy even recommended checking out Party San as a far better festival that is smaller. Another suggested Inferno.
