windows vista cd ripping programs
i was wondering if theres any programs out there that can rip in vbr for windows vista, i ask because i tried getting the new lame encoder even razor lame for my computer and it wasnt recognized. ive also noticed that most vbr cd rips have some noticeable distortion and cracking, which is why i stick to cbr discs sometimes, so if anyone could recommend a good ripping program id appreciate it.

I personally use EAC (Exact Audio Copy) which is freeware, so just google. This is just a ripping program, and then you can plug in whichever MP3 encoder you choose. I use LAME personally, works fine on my 64bit Vista system. I have EAC set to rip, and LAME set to encode using the "extreme" preset, which has specially optimized filters, and encodes at 256kbps VBR. For heavy stuff, it pretty much stays on 320kbps anyway, and just lowers the bitrate slightly for the quieter stuff... but even at 256kbps the LAME encoder sounds as good as 320kbps on a "lesser" encoder anyway, to my ears at least, blasting the neighbourhood with some Boston Acoustic speakers :) Vin.

I'd second EAC with V0.
